Critical Steps to Online Success - Create simple Web pages with MS Word

You can generate web pages using MS Word.

You don't need to know any HTML. It's quite simple for a basic web page and they work really well.

Here's what you do…

Open a Word Document and Click "Insert" and then "Text Box". A light grey box will appear on the page and your cursor will become a little plus sign. Just position the Cursor inside the gray box and drag it to draw a box the size you want---say 6 inches (15 cm) square.

Now click on the box and center it using the centering icon on the tool bar.

Now just start typing inside that box.

Some useful tips:

* Don't use the Tab key.

* Don't use quotation marks

* Use italics where you normally use quotes

* Don't enter a string of spaces.

You might type something like this:

__________________________________________

This is your Down load Page

Welcome

Just click the link below and your Free Book will open

Then just save it to your Hard Drive

Click Here-This is your Download Link

___________________________________________

Then just Center the text; use Verdana Bold font (you get less issues for your visitors with a standard font); resize the various lines and do the text in different websafe colors…red, black and blue.

Now you want to highlight the line " Click Here-This is your Download Link", right click and select "Hyperlink". The Hyperlink dialogue box will open and you type your webpage address into the "Address Box" at the bottom.

I find it's best to enter the full web address:

Eg: "http://mywebsiteURL.com/downloadpage"

It can really be just that simple!

Click "File" and "Save As" and save it as a HTML file (Word gives you this option).

NOTE: Don't select "Save as Webpage". This creates a ".mht" file which won't work so well for you.

You can call it "DownloadPage.html" or whatever else makes you happy.

Now you want to check that everything is working fine so go to Windows Explorer and double click on your HTML file and it will open as a web page.

If the Text Box isn't centered then go back to the Word Doc and center it again and re-save as HTML.

For a Squeeze Page you can Google "Free Squeeze Page Software" and get a program that will produce a nice professional looking "Squeeze Page" for you. You can then open the HTML file in Microsoft Office Word (just "Right Click" the file and select "open with" and then "Microsoft Office Word") and edit it from there. Or you can get some Free webpage "templates" and edit them in Word or a simple HTML editor (again there's lots of free ones out there).

If you use Word to edit you just re-save the file as an HTML file (not a Word file) and you're ready to rock and roll.

Don't forget when you upload your files to also upload the "Files Folder" that was created when you saved your Word Doc as a HTML file. If you called your file "DownloadPage.html" then the folder will be called "DownloadPage_files".

Keep on winning

Regards

Jim

Get Noticed And Stand Out From The Crowd

Several years ago, I went whale watching in Bar Harbor, Maine, while on a family vacation. I remained in the large, central cabin with my poor seasick infant son when a whale was finally spotted.

The Captain announced, "Whale to the starboard", and a mini-stampede of about 70 tourists scampered over just in time for the briefest of glimpses as it quickly submerged again. Everyone jostled and jockied for position to get the perfect camera shot for when that darn whale resurfaced.

But of course, it wasn't going to work out this way. "Whale to the port side", announced the Captain, and the stampede to the other side literally rocked the boat. Naturally, the whale had disappeared by then as well.

This went on like this. back and forth, for about twenty minutes. The whale seemed to be toying with human nature -- the tendency for people to do what everyone else was doing.

And EVERYONE was zigging when they should have been zagging. There were no "individuals". They moved as a group in their futile quest to snap off a clear and revealing shot.

Are you moving with the crowd on the internet, or are you striking out on your own unique path, one more likely to get noticed?

If you observe your own specific internet marketplace, it's very likely you'll find that the vast majority of the "crowd" are doing the sames things in the same ways ... and they're also getting the same poor results.

This presents a golden opportunity to be noticed by doing things differently.

Successful entrepreneurs, both online and off, are innovators and risk takers. They experiment, evaluate and evolve until they successfully convey that both who they are and what they offer is unique in the marketplace, despite all the competition.

To seperate yourself from the pack, you need to look at every aspect of your internet marketing effort and ask yourself, "What's unique about this?" And, "how does this contribute to my own unique web presence?"

Here's some important areas to look at to get you started.

* Are you playing it safe and trying to please and sell everyone, and consequently selling to almost no one?

* Why should your prospects believe YOU when they are skeptical of so many others?

* How about your newsletter? Is it similar to countless others or is there a unique theme or tone running through it?

* While your ads may be well written, is the overall message very much the same as the pack?

* How is your sales page unique? And have you given it a measured dose of your own personality?

This process of developing a distinct "uniqueness" is subjective, involves risks, takes work to implement, and time to evaluate and change again if necessary. But in doing so, you will develop the factors crucial to successfully setting yourself apart in a very competitive marketplace.

Back onboard, my wife took a chance and finally went to the OTHER SIDE of the boat, alone. Sure enough, the whale popped up for a few seconds, she got the shot, and that was the last that was seen of that whale, or any other, for the rest of the trip. There were alot of unhappy tourists grumbling on the way back.

Stand out from the crowd. Move to the empty side of the boat ... and you'll stand a much better chance of getting your picture of the whale.

6 Mistakes Made by Unsuccessful Affiliate Marketers

Affiliate marketing can be a lucrative work-at-home business opportunity if you do it right. Unfortunately too many beginners and even some more experienced affiliates tend to make some core mistakes that hinder their ability to earn an income. In this article I will discuss six mistakes you should avoid if you want to be a successful affiliate.

1) Waiting Too Long to Put Up Your Site

Many affiliates fall into the trap of fixing and tweaking their website and waiting too long to make it live. I was certainly guilty of this when I first started affiliate marketing. In building my affiliate website I would constantly be adding pages that I might need in the future and tweaking content that I'd already written. Meanwhile, no one was visiting my site because I hadn't put it up yet. Now I'm not suggesting you quickly put up a bad site, but you should establish early what your basic website requirements are, and put the site up once they are met. After that, you can continue to work on it while people are visiting and your search engine rankings are building.

2) Thinking that Your Website is Complete

Once you have your site up and it is just the way you like it then it's done right? Wrong! You must constantly be adding new content and updating the site. Search engines like Google prefer sites that update their content regularly and will come back to them often for indexing. If a website is static for too long it can begin to drop its search engine ranking for your keywords. Moreover, if your content never changes, there is no encouragement for people to revisit your website. In both cases, visitor counts will drop resulting in fewer people clicking your ads, converting to leads, and making you money. Remember, your site is never complete.

3) Joining the Wrong Affiliate Program

There are literally thousands upon thousands of merchants with affiliate programs. It is up to you to find merchants with products that relate to your website's content. For example, if your website is about gardening, then having banner ads that read 'Web Hosting at Great Prices' probably won't get many clicks. Why? Because most gardeners visiting a gardening website really don't care about web hosting at that time. In comparison, if you have an ad reading 'Gardening Tools at Great Prices' you are more accurately targeting your visitors and as a result will get more clicks.

4) No AdSense on Your Site

Lots of affiliates fail to use Google AdSense on their websites. I know first hand that you can earn massive amounts of money by simply putting a snippet of code on your site! If you aren't familiar with AdSense, it is an advertising technique developed by Google that allows them to place targeted ads next to your content. It's free to join and when someone clicks one of these ads, the advertiser pays you for the click.

5) Failing to Promote Your Affiliate Website

Too many affiliate marketers put together their website to promote merchant products but don't actively try to get new visitors. Unfortunately, the old adage, "Build it and they will come" most definitely does not refer to websites. A lot of time must be spent promoting your affiliate website so that you always have visitors coming to your site and buying the products you are promoting.

Concentrate on getting your website's link included on websites, preferably those with a high page rank. Join forums, make helpful posts, and have a link to your site in the signature. Write articles relevant to your website and include your link in your bio. Join Google AdWords to have your ad show up for targeted search results and thousands of sites related to your content. Whatever techniques you use, just make sure you promote.

6) Spreading Yourself Too Thin

I have heard some affiliates say that they have lots of sites and none of them are making any money. So what do they do? They make another site in hopes that it will be the one that works. Some people have different views on this but I would recommend only running a few sites but running them well. Make sure you give yourself enough time to properly make, maintain, and market your site. If you run 40 websites then you can only spend 1 hour/week on each. This isn't enough time to do anything productive. If you only have 4 websites then you can spend a full 10 hours/week maintaining and marketing them which will result in far more visits.

In Conclusion ...

By avoiding the six mistakes I've discussed in this article, you are more likely to succeed in your efforts as an affiliate marketer. In no time flat, you'll be making the kind of money that will allow you to quit your job and work-at-home full time. Best of luck!

View Your Website Through The Eyes of Your Customers

Increase conversions by putting content or images in the places where the visitors are most likely to see it. Visitors eyes normally work from the left side of the page to the center, following a predictable pattern. Meeting your clients browsing expectations by placing information where they expect to see it will turn them into buyers as opposed to browsers.

For example, visit our website to see an image that highlights how most visitors to a website view a specific page when browsing. As you will see, the areas that are in yellow and red are the key areas that they may notice, while the blue colours are the sections that the human eye tends to ignore.

This is interesting in itself and should highlight the need for you test your website to find out if the important information is where your potential customers will find it.

Google Website Optimiser. Help is at hand with a new product from Google that aims to help you increase conversion rate and improve the overall visitor experience. The Google Website Optimizer allows you to test different versions of your site content so that you may determine what will best attract users and lead them to buy on your site.

You will need a Google AdWords account to use the Google webpage optimiser but the actual tracking software scripts are available free from Google. So to summarise, by testing different versions of your site content, you can determine what will best attract users and lead them to buy from your site. Something for all of us to consider.

Internet MLM - Getting Started With the AWeber Auto Responder

I am very committed to building my Network
Marketing Business (aka MLM) on the Internet.

I hate the rejection factor and the incredible time
inefficiency of the warm market building process. Let's face
it, the internet has arrived and it ain't going away, so
let's make it work for us.

But as we all discover--unless you're already an internet
Guru--there are a few hurdles to be overcome first.

And right now, top of my list has been finding my way around
AWeber, the auto responder I have decided to move to for my
opt-in lists.

All of these online services advertise how easy it is to use
their site, but I have to tell you that it just never seems
to work that way for me. I find their documentation to be
hopelessly inadequate and the sites way less than intuitive.
It's not just AWeber; it's most of them. And I am pretty
savvy around computers and the internet.

Let's just deal with one component of setting up your AWeber
auto responder--using personalized salutations in your email
messages--e.g. Hi Mary or Dear John etc.

How exactly are we going to set this up.

Well I am finally able to report that it's very easy if you
just use the opt-in webform creation tool exactly as they
set it out for you.

That sounds pretty smart and straight forward, right? Well
not exactly; and here's where I got confused. AWeber sent me
a tutorial indicating that personalizing messages using
"first name" has way better opening rates than using the
persons "full name". And I know that I feel way less
threatened by a form that only asks for my first name and
email.

But here's the thing! The default option when you set up
your opt-in form is "email" and then "name". So people who
see name in the form will enter either their first name or
their "full name". Besides not pulling as well , using the
full name in the salutation, such as "Hi John Smith" looks
pretty tacky.

I found that when I tried to use a "custom field" to request
just "first name" only, that I ran into all sorts of
conflicts and it wasn't capturing the name at all. Totally
my fault I'm sure in how I set it up, but just way too
confusing for a beginner.

The good news is that there's a trick which isn't explained
anywhere that I can find--but please let me know if it is
there somewhere.

And here's the trick: the opt-in form will capture whatever
name is entered in the field. Then when you want to enter a
personalization field into your email e.g. "Dear first-name"
you simply use the drop down list and select "first name
fix". Sounds logical right?

But here's the bit that isn't explained!

This field will go and capture just the first word in the
name field and return that as the name for your email. It
will ignore the rest of the name. As well as that using the
"fix" variable in the field, the software will automatically
capitalize the name for you.

Problem solved.

I hope this is clear. I spent a lot of frustrated time and
energy getting to this place.

Seems simple I know. Am I the only one who runs across
challenges like this?

Using Product Recommendations to Increase Affiliate Earning

One of the best ways to increase your affiliate marketing bottom line and sale is to recommend products. If your customers or list subscribers trust you enough, they will definitely take a look at your recommendations.

To retain your credibility in the eyes of your customers or subscribers, do not promote everything by recommendations, especially when your recommendations seem exaggerated and without much merit.

Do offer your most genuine feedback about the particular product that you are promoting, including anything that you do not like about it. This will make your recommendation more realistic and will increase your credibility at the same time.

When you are recommending a product, make sure that you sound like the true and leading expert in your field. You can achieve this by offering unique and new solutions they would not get anywhere else. Get testimonials and endorsements from respected and known personalities who have already bought the product.

While recommending a product, it is also important that you give out promotional freebies. Try to offer freebies that can promote or even have some information about your own products, websites or services.

It will be best that you should try and test the product and support of the product that you are going to recommend. Do not run the risk of promoting a junk product, which in the end will tarnish your reputation.

If possible, have recommendations of products that you have 100% confidence in. Test the product support before you begin to ensure that the people you are referring it to would not be left high and dry when a problem suddenly arouse.

Have a look at your affiliate market and look at the strategies you are using. Fine tune the strategies until you see that there is a constant flow of sales for that particular product that you are recommending.

Linking Strategy - A Brief Explanation Of Linking Strategy For SEO Beginners

Every webmaster learns, sooner or later, that a good linking strategy is essential to getting a website into a higher position in the Search Engines. In case you are new to Internet marketing, this is because having links pointing to your website on other websites increases the "value" of your website in the perception of the Search Engines. There are two types of link: reciprocal links and one way links. With a reciprocal link, you have a link on your website pointing to another website and the owner of that site reciprocates by having a link pointing back to your website. The best links from the point of view of Search Engine Optimization are one way links.

Reciprocal linking was once an important part of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) work. Nowadays it is considered to be less important but there is still a place for reciprocal linking because reciprocal links still affect placement in the Search Engines even though Google discounts them. Reciprocal linking is free and is easy to manage with the help of reciprocal linking software.

One way links are very valuable and, the higher the PR (page rank) of the site providing the link back, the more good it does your website's Search Engine importance. One way links can be obtained by paying a webmaster to place your link on his website and there are Link Directories that will include a link to your site in return for payment of a fee (normally renewable annually).

It is possible to obtain free one way links and one of the most popular and effective ways to do so, is by writing articles and submitting them to Article Directories. Each article carries a link back to the author's website and this strategy is viral. Good original articles will be picked up by webmasters looking for content and posted on their websites, thereby giving you a further free link to your site. Writing and submitting articles can be quite time-consuming but with the help of an Article Submission Service, the time required can be greatly reduced.

Another popular way of obtaining free one way links to a website is by submitting your website link to free Link Directories. This strategy can secure you free links from websites with a Google PR as high as 9. The snag with submitting your website to Link Directories is that the process takes a great deal of time and is boring beyond belief. You have to search online for Link Directories, visit the site of each one to check to see if your site is eligible for inclusion (some Directories are specialised). Then you have to fill in a submission form on each site.

There are paid services which will submit your website to Link Directories. However, these services are quite expensive and it can be tricky maintaining a record of the Link Directories where your link has been submitted. It is important to keep records as accidentally submitting to a Directory more than once will be viewed as "spamming" and can result in your website being banned from the Directory. The best Linking Services are ones that undertake to submit your website to the Directories over a long period of time and these are the most expensive services, certainly out of the reach of most new website owners. Subscribing to a service that will submit your website to hundreds of Directories at once is cheaper but is a bad idea from an SEO point of view: the Search Engines look for a gradual organic increase in links and a sudden surge of links back to your website will raise a warning flag.

By far the best way to manage submitting to Link Directories is by using specialised software to do the job yourself. This way you have complete control over the rate at which the links back to your site are created. The task is much less boring because, with the aid of the software, it takes hardly any time to submit your website to a Directory and you can conveniently spread the work over an extended period.

It is impossible to imagine a way of making linking exciting or even interesting but it is an essential part of the SEO work of any webmaster. Webmasters are fortunate that software is available to remove the boredom.
